Position Summary

The Clinical Trainer handles training new and current technicians on exam skills, diagnostic equipment, and new clinical procedures and policies. Efficiently directs the workflow of technicians to ensure smooth patient flow. The Clinical Trainer provides leadership, has excellent problem-solving skills, and is knowledgeable of applicable laws, regulations, and standards set by IJCAHPO and other regulatory agencies.   

Responsibilities

Training

  • Complete annual/biannual skills competencies for all active ophthalmic technicians, senior technicians, lead technicians, and any other clinical staff roles.
  • Provides training for all new and current diagnostic equipment as needed.
  • Supplies help in direct service tasks when short staffed.
  • Aid with patient flow, diagnostic testing, and technician exam components
  • Holds regular technician training seminars/meetings.
  • Work with providers to develop a manual of protocols for each provider and keep manual updated as new providers join GEP or needs change.
  • Develop and implement on-going training plans for all clinical staff.
  • Develop on-boarding process for training new technicians and other clinical staff including training on NexTech/ICP EMR

Human Resources

  • Responsible for onboarding of new clinical hirs, with emphasis on skills that may need refining.
  • Conduct new clinical hire 90 days review and contribute to annual performance reviews for all clinical staff.

Compliance

  • Responsible for all aspects of OSHA, including documentation and training.
  • Responsible for SDS maintenance
  • Creates and continually updates policy and procedures for technicians for inclusion in clinic manual, including EMR procedures and updates.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, advanced degree preferred.
  • JCAHPO COA Certification required, COT preferred.
  • Experience conducting or developing training program(s) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible operations experience in a clinical healthcare environment required.
