Position Summary

We are actively recruiting for a CLINICAL COORDINATOR to join our growing team at Midwest Eye Center - Kenwood ASC.

 

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for organizing and supervising the daily operations of the Ambulatory Surgery Center.  This candidate, in coordination with the ASC Director, is responsible for the management of staff, interaction with other areas of the ASC and clinics.  This candidate will also ensure professional nursing care for patients and their families by providing leadership and supervision by example.  The Clinical Coordinator will act as a clinical resource for problem resolution and patient care activities.  They will take part in the education and enhancement of personnel and performance evaluations along with other administrative tasks as specified by the Director.  This individual may be involved in planning budgets, supervising personnel recruitment and training, scheduling staff, and managing the facility’s supplies and inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and oversee patient care to ensure patient needs are met and the center’s policy and procedures are followed. 
  • Take part in the enhancement, revision, and execution of unit specific policies and procedures. 
  • Participate in sustaining performance improvement as well as QAPI activities. 
  • Make sure equipment and supplies employed for the successful operation of the unit are well placed and functioning. Make necessary repairs or supervise the repair process of malfunctioning equipment. 
  • Establish professional judgment in regard to changing patient situations. 
  • Assist with maintaining the unit’s labor budget by inspecting use of overtime, agency, and registry. 
  • Observe time and attendance policies and applicable documentation. 
  • Assist with Director responsibilities as needed.
  • Lead the orientation/induction of new co-workers and confirm all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Maintain a visible, robust working rapport with doctors, coworkers and the entire Leadership Team of Midwest Eye Center.
  • Provide feedback on staff to the Director as needed.
  • Assist with training new staff.
  • Provide coverage in all areas including lunches and other staffing shortages.
  • Facilitate surgeries by assisting with room turnover, make sure staff are properly prepared at shift start and end of day close is completed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Active RN or LPN license in the state where work will be conducted.
  • CPR and ACLS certification
  • Practice experience as an RN or LPN (minimum two years)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, AAAHC accreditation, licensure-ASC certification and current standards.
  • Must be able to assess, prioritize, plan, and implement direct patient care.
  • Assumes responsibility for competency of practice and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education.
  • Working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
  • Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately.
  • Ability to utilize resources in a timely, organized, and cost-effective manner.
  • Possess competency in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook), EHR systems and have the ability to learn new programs quickly.
