Central Florida Eye Specialists is affiliated with EyeSouth Partners' premier network of Ophthalmic Medical Services. 

The Ophthalmic Clinical Supervisor position allows you to work daily while providing direct hands-on care to our patients and physicians.  Our clinical staff report high levels of satisfaction with their roles at Central Florida Eye Specialists because they get to play a vital role in helping save peoples sight each and every day.  Though the days may be long and busy, we find the results to be well worth the effort. 

Our Ophthalmic Clinical Supervisor plays a vital role in the planning, developing, and administering a comprehensive clinical and development program for clinical staff.  In partnership with the Office Manager, this position will be responsible for:

• Providing training on all new and current diagnostic equipment as needed.
• Helps in direct service tasks when short staffed.
• Aiding with patient flow, diagnostic testing, and technician exam components.
• Holding regular technician training seminars/meetings.
• Monitoring clinical supplies keeping inventory controls, order clinical supplies as necessary within budget.
• Coordinating in-house continuing education programs.
• Coordinating in-house clinical information sessions open to non-clinical personnel (i.e. how to triage patients).
• Continuously reviewing the effectiveness of the educational program and makes changes as appropriate.
• Communicating any/all HR issues and concerns to the Office Manager and Practice Administrator.

• History taking
• Visual acuity measurement
• Refractometry (measurements for the glasses prescription)
• Tonometry (measure eye pressure)
• Measure pupil size and reactivity
• Test and measure eye muscle function
• Visual field testing
• Corneal thickness measurement
• Corneal curvature measurement
• Corneal topography
• Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement
• Retinal thickness and topography
• Fluorescein angiography
• A and B-scan ultrasonography
• Assist with contact lens fitting, and patient instruction
• Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures
• Surgical assisting

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of five years of Ophthalmology experience strongly preferred
• COA, COT, or COMT certification 
• Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level.
• Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamwork
• Strong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)
• Able to work long and irregular hours, and travel to different locations based on clinic needs
• Ability to master ophthalmology terminology
• Required to have reliable transportation between local clinics during the workday (mileage is reimbursed)
• High School Graduate

Desired Qualifications:

• Bilingual in Spanish
• Prior leadership experience

Physical Demands:

• Ability to view patient images and operate computer devices
• Ability to converse with patients - speaking and hearing
• Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse
• Near constant standing and walking
• Manual dexterity to operate ophthalmic equipment

Other Position Details:

• Schedule varies depending on assigned role and/or assigned physician
• Monday to Friday schedule
• Uniform/Scrub allowance of $200
• Some job titles that usually have relevant experience for this position: medical assistant, optometric technician, ophthalmic technician, optician, veterinary technician, ophthalmic scribe, ophthalmic photographer, phlebotomist, certified nurses assistant
