Position Summary

We are hiring a LEAD OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN for our WESTSIDE clinic.

 

This is a leadership role responsible for assisting MD’s and OD’s by managing clinic flow and overseeing the daily activities of the clinic and clinical staff.  Lead Techs are part of the clinical staff and are expected to work with the other Ophthalmic Techs when needed.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Direct clinic flow and oversee clinical activities
  • Training and evaluating all new and existing Ophthalmic Technicians
  • Oversee the preparation of minor procedures
  • Collaborate with location managers on the doctor’s schedule, patient template and physician’s time off. Confirm accuracy in EMR.
  • Support location based Ophthalmic Technicians
  • Oversee care of patients and do periodical shadowing to ensure consistency
  • Conduct team briefings before and after clinic to deliver important messages and changes in protocol
  • Oversee triage protocols and communicate changes as needed
  • Serve as liaison for physicians, technicians and administrative staff
  • Complete monthly compliance training
  • Assure completion of compliance training by Ophthalmic Technicians
  • Delegate effectively and tactfully to team members while contributing to a positive work atmosphere
  • Uphold and demonstrate commitment to company policies and procedures

  • Ensure adherence of opening and closing procedures

 

Other Duties

  • Ensure all clinical supplies are ordered
  • Complete monthly inventory reports
  • Assure regular calibration of equipment is done and documented

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Ophthalmic certification or five (5) years of ophthalmic technician experience
  • Clinical supervision experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team and drive performance improvement, demonstrated by progressive increases in supervisory responsibility
  • Proven ability to thrive in a highly matrixed environment
  • Ability to work beyond the normal hours, as needed (including potential weekends)
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communications skills; written and documentation skills
  • Professional & reliable demeanor with strong work ethic
  • Excellent time management skills, organizing and prioritizing workload, in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to quickly learn new software, new systems, adapt to change and communicate effectively
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands where to route inquiries to next level with a strong sense of urgency
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames
  • Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes
  • Team player that develops strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners and can effectively engage
