The Managed Care Contract Specialist will play a key role in supporting Project IMPACT, a strategic initiative focused on optimizing payer contracts and driving incremental revenue across EyeSouth Partners’ network of ophthalmology practices and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs).

 

This role will directly support managed care leadership in analyzing reimbursement, preparing negotiation strategies, and executing contracting initiatives across multiple states and affiliates. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, data-driven environment with direct visibility to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of Project IMPACT initiatives, including payer renegotiations across physician groups and ASCs
  • Analyze reimbursement methodologies including % of Medicare, ASC fee schedules, case rates, and payer-specific carve-outs
  • Maintain financial models to quantify incremental revenue opportunities (e.g., rate increases, escalators, new contracts)
  • Assist in preparing payer negotiation materials, including rate comparisons, market benchmarks, and review of price transparency
  • Track and report incremental revenue impact by affiliate, payer, and contract (multi-year projections)
  • Lead and support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the contract management system, Rivet, including:
    • Uploading and organizing all payer agreements, amendments, and fee schedules
    • Maintenance of enterprise Chargemaster for all EyeSouth affiliates
    • Ensuring data integrity and standardization across affiliates
    • Partnering with internal teams and vendors to optimize system functionality and reporting capabilities
    • Support onboarding of newly acquired affiliates into EyeSouth’s managed care strategy and Rivet platform integration
  • Partner with revenue cycle teams to identify underpayments, denial trends, and contract compliance issues
  • Coordinate with external consulting partners to support negotiation strategy and analytics
  • Monitor contract renewal timelines and proactively identify renegotiation or termination opportunities
  • Assist in managing payer relationships including communications, issue resolution, and data requests
  • Assist internal reporting for leadership highlighting key wins, contract status, and financial performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in managed care, Payer contracting, healthcare finance, or revenue cycle
  • Foundational understanding of healthcare reimbursement models including Medicare and commercial payers
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modeling, data analysis, pivot tables)
  • Ability to interpret and analyze fee schedules, contracts, and reimbursement terms
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with internal leadership and external stakeholders
  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-state healthcare organizations preferred
  • Familiarity with ASC and physician group reimbursement structures preferred
  • Experience working with national and regional payers such as UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, and United Healthcare preferred
  • Exposure to contract negotiations or payer strategy development preferred
  • Familiarity with contract management systems and payer portals (e.g., Availity) preferred
  • Knowledge of claims adjudication, denial management, and payer policies preferred
