EyeSouth’s affiliate network consists of over 70 practices with 400+ doctors providing medical and surgical eye care services at over 285 clinic locations and 20+ ambulatory surgery centers throughout Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina. 

Position Summary

As a Physician Liaison, you will serve as a representative for the doctors and services provided at the Practice by playing a crucial role in building and maintaining strong relationships with medical professionals. Your primary responsibility will be to connect with physicians, educate them about our services, and facilitate patient referrals to the Practice. You will serve as a bridge between the medical community and our organization, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration. In this role, you will partner with internal teams, including Operations and Marketing, to execute strategies and ensure practices have the tools and information they need for successful engagement. You’ll be responsible for identifying and resolving barriers to client care and driving practice-level activities to meet access targets in your designated territory. Regular, strategic travel within the assigned market area is required.

 

The ideal candidate will be located in Michigan and have ability to travel to offices in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties with occasional travel to Genesee county.  

Responsibilities

  • Establish and Nurture Professional Relationships:

    • Establish and nurture professional relationships with physicians in various specialties such as Optometry, Ophthalmology, Primary Care, Gynecology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Oncology, and other relevant healthcare providers.
    • Meet face-to-face with medical practices and hospital/community liaisons, educating them on services and our referral process.
    • Gather feedback from physicians, address any questions or concerns, and use feedback to improve processes and enhance collaboration3.

    Increase visibility and Communicate Value:

    • Increase the visibility of services and communicate the full value of partnering with your practice by strategically visiting targeted referral sources.
    • Lead and execute initiatives to build volume and favorable provider perceptions by coordinating with internal doctors/departments on marketing strategies and delivering effective sales presentations5.

    Database and Monitoring:

    • Establish and maintain a database of referring physicians and monitor patient referrals to ensure timely communication and necessary documentation.

    Market Positioning and Engagement:

    • Ensure the Practice is positioned competitively to protect and grow market share.
    • Identify tactics to promote provider interaction and engagement.

    Communication and Reporting:

    • Provide weekly communication to key stakeholders regarding activities, market area, message focus, wins/barriers, and upcoming call plans.

    Understanding and Knowledge:

    • Exhibit an in-depth understanding of the healthcare marketplace and sales processes.
    • Prioritize efforts and resources based on knowledge of Ophthalmology services, territory dynamics, and the marketplace.
    • Demonstrate complete knowledge of the Insurance and Managed Care plans accepted at your practice.

    Resource Management and Performance:

    • Manage territory resource allocation to maximize profitability.
    • Monitor performance against strategic objectives/directives.
      • Meet or exceed monthly performance goals.
      • Be fully ramped up across all practices in your respective territory within 90 days.

      Compliance:

      • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements related to healthcare interactions.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred or equivalent working experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in healthcare sales is strongly preferred.
  • Highly motivated and target-driven with a proven track record in sales.
  • Be adaptable and able to pivot based on shifting priorities
  • Experience analyzing data, statistics, and product lines.
  • General Ophthalmology knowledge is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use persuasive communication, leadership, and relationship/rapport building.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient service-oriented environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external.
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to the next level.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Team player that develops strong collaborative relationships with internal partners and can effectively engage and build consensus among cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/CONDITIONS

  • Clinic/Group Medical Practice environment with exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and other potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make discriminations in sound.
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Vision. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; using measurement devices; at distances close to the eyes. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close hearing, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
