Position Summary

We are actively recruiting for a Medical Assistant to join our growing team at Premier Surgical Center.  This is a PRN Medical Assistant role with ability to pick up shifts 3-8 times per month. Shift would be Monday - Thursday day shift (8 hours).

Responsibilities

 

  • Clinical Skills for Medical Assistant
  • Demonstrates competency and knowledge of medical records documentation.
  • Uses knowledge of medical record policy and procedures.
  • Assists with rooming, changing and dressing, transport and patient movement within the facility.
  • Coordinates patient care with other team members.
  • Keeps work areas clean, tidy and properly stocked, free of soiled equipment and supplies.
  • Reports abnormal or unexpected outcomes or observations to RN and/or physician.
  • Collects and records pertinent patient data (vital signs, NPO status, medical history, etc.) as instructed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique.
  • Assists provider with procedures as directed, including femtosecond laser.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competence for use of equipment.
  • Demonstrates awareness of protocol for malfunctioning equipment and repair.
  • Wears appropriate attire in restricted areas.
  • Adheres to recommended traffic patterns.
  • Demonstrates skill in appropriate use of instruments and equipment.
  • Transports patients to and from the facility.
  • Assists with preoperative patient preparation and postoperative patient discharge.
  • Assists with OR turnover.
  • Cleans, restocks supplies as assigned.
  • Assists surgeon in the OR with clinic charts, as directed.

 

  • Staff Support
    • Demonstrates understanding of age specific needs/behaviors.
    • Identifies opportunities to improve patient safety and participates in projects and programs designed to reduce error and improve safety.
    • Retrieve and stock clean and sterile supplies within the facility.
    • Retrieve and store equipment as needed. 
    • Assists staff in preop/PACU as needed and directed.
    • Assists staff in OR as needed and directed.
    • Removes linen, trash and sharps and transports to appropriate storage areas.
    • Restocks blanket warmer.

  • Listens respectfully, gives feedback directly, honestly and talks with others to clarify differences.
  • Effectively communicates and interacts with patients (using translation services when needed), their family, and other external and internal clients (including fellow employees) from diverse backgrounds.

    • Demonstrates a wiliness to look at new ideas and work in a changing environment.
    • Understands, verbalizes and participates in the quality improvement process.
    • Supports initiatives designed to improve individual an organizational performances.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:  One (1) year job experience required. Current BLS required, within 30 days of hire.
